~We will spend the first 2 days coming up with the classroom rules. I will guide the students to some of the rules that I think are important (see above list). Together we will compromise on 5 rules we believe in and believe we can follow.
I use a behavior program within my classroom that is very visual and encourages good behavior. While I do not anticipate any behavior problems, I think it is important that the children know the rules, rewards, and consequences of their behavior. All students have colored softballs (green, yellow, orange, red, blue and black) that represent their behavior. Every day they start out with a green card showing. This means they are doing exactly what the class and the teacher expect of them. If there are any problems, there is a set of consequences.

1. Verbal Warning
2. Strike 1: Change green card to yellow card -Warning
3. Strike 2: Change yellow card to orange card -Warning
4. Strike 3: Change orange card to red card –Lose recess
5. Strike Out: Change red card to blue card -Parent notified
6. Ball Game: Change blue card to black card -Principal notified
**Severe disruptions will be handled individually in the best interest of the student and the rest of the class.

*No strikes at the end of the day = small reward or one ticket.
-On Fridays, I will pull five tickets from the bucket for a prize.
Prizes may include:
Pencils, stickers, lunch with the teacher, free homework pass,
school store coupon, restaurant coupon, etc..
